Why Bolivia? Great roads, unbelievable ecological diversity, and fantastic cultures all wrapped up in one. Trip lead Bruce Elfstrom is a professional Evolutionary Ecologist and Herpetologist, so get ready for some interesting lectures and occasional adventures! This trip has two purposes; set up a regular offering trip for OEX (iron out the details, be the guinea pig), and establish a community Aquaponics farming project. A portion of the trips cost (10%) will be donated to the community project for the purchase of supplies and building materials.

Working Expeditions interest you please contact Bruce for more information such as a project summation, goals and objectives sheet.

Lodging will be local community homes, five star resorts/lodges or ecological research stations --- we can find them we sleep in them. However, as with all recces, nights in tents and in the vehicles WILL or MAY be necessary. We will provide all the camping and cooking equipment.

Weather and ecological conditions will vary drastically from cold mountain areas to humid hot, and muddy rainforests. Conditions of the roads will range from tarmac and rough dry pack dirt roads, to very challenging mud/clay in the lowlands. Mountainous areas will cover a huge range of conditions. The Yungas or Death Road itself presents unique conditions. Within the Amazon basin we may encounter flooded areas and may need to travel via ferry or improvised car carriers. But….. much depends on the weather patterns leading up to the departure.

Space is very limited. Participants must have already been on an OEX trip, or have had or are planning a 2 days training with us (included in the trip cost). If you are interested please apply directly for details.

Recce = Unpredictability. You need to be adaptable to be adventurous.
