Day 2 Quebec City to Baie Comeau
-
One or two ferries later we arrive at Baie Comeau. Camp, or stay at
the very nice Hotel Le Manoir.

and accommodation choices.
Day 3 Baie Comeau, 500

Manicouagan Crater, Fire Lake
-
We leave the pavement behind about 1.5 hrs out of town.
-
Cross the 500 Parallel---too cool!
-
Drive on the East side Manicouagan Meteor Crater—very wild to
drive in and on the edge of a crater 100km across! This is the second
largest meteor crater impact scare on Earth. The crater is now full of
water. Stop for lunch waterside. Swim? Fish?
Day 4 Fire Lake to Labrador City
-
Wheels up early and Trans Labrador Highway.
-
This area begins to show the sub-tundra look that continues east and
north. Stunted trees and glacier eskers are the norm. Caribou may be
seen here
-
Meet up with some local guides and take a trail north into the scrub.
The trail will offer challenges to all skill levels; some obstacles
are not passable without a well-modified vehicle, however alternate
trails exist to by-pass these areas.
Day 5 Back to Trans-Labrador Highway, Churchill Falls, To Goose Bay
Day 6 Goose Bay, Inuit talk, and Museum, Trail ride, and visit to a
Native American Community
-
Here we meet up with local expert on Inuit and spend some time at his
home for a slides show on the Native peoples of Labrador. Visit
fantastic galley with Inuit artifacts and artwork.
-
After lunch we will head out for a trail ride. This trail is heavy on
rock and presents some fantastic scenery at its end---some good
technical locker type stuff here---bypasses too. Along the way to the
trail we will stop at the Interpretation Center‘s museum that covers
much of the history of the various cultures and peoples of Labrador.
-
Leisurely dinner at the campsite ---Caribou stew and Moose burgers?
Day 7 --Building a Building or two, overnight ship to Cartwright.
-
OEX has arranged a day of charity where we will help build two cabins
for the local Community Youth Summer Camp. Here is our chance to make
a true Expedition out of our trip---to make a difference!
Our combined efforts should allow us to take down and re-build two old
log cabins and supply them with electricity and water.
-
Board the M/V Sir Robert Bond. We cruise Lake Melville, East
Northeast, by the Mealy Mountains and pass through the straits by
Rigotet. This cruise is full of scenery and ice! /li>

Lights!!!

The straits near Rigolet and through Hamilton Inlet will mark our most
northerly point of the trip, ~54.20 North.
