Bruce,

I am writing to thank you for everything you have done in creating Overland Experts and your amazing trip to Iceland. As I sit here looking at my pictures from the trip all of the excitement and wonder that I felt then is pouring back over me now. I'm not sure exactly what it was about that week but it is one that I will remember forever. I have been all over the world and try to get offroad in as many places as possible. Australia and  New Zealand were pretty cool.  The jungles of Ecuador were also very wild.  But Iceland was really amazing. I have never been on a trip that flowed as well as this one did.

The mechanics were flawless.  By that I mean that the vehicles and equipment were perfect. I have never driven such well prepared and well equipped vehicles in almost twenty years of offroading. Snorri, guide and truckbuilder extraordinaire, has created a marvelous bunch of trucks under the Iceland Rover banner. Your talent as a driver and knowledge of the local conditions and trails gave Candice and I a real sense of security in our unfamiliar surroundings. Add to that your extensive knowledge of the biology, volcanology, geology, sociology, well, most of your "ology"s of Iceland. Lest we not forget Jon. His quick wit and willingness to discuss all things Icelandic was charming.  I really felt as though I got a sense of what Iceland and the Icelandic people are all about.

The group size was perfect. Very manageable through obstacles and river crossings. And it was a great group of people.  I am happy to have met and gotten to know all of them.  By the end I think we had become quite a tight knit little group, aware of each others idiosyncrasies and strong suits. I'd gladly share a truck with any of them again.

The accommodations were outstanding.  From the first to the last, everything was warm and comfortable and fresh, from rooms to food to wine to hot pots.  Everything was first class.  I'm not going to list every place we stayed and why it was perfect.  You know, that's why you chose them.  I will say that I have had the best lobster soup in the world, there is none better.  And big puffy white comforters every place we stayed.  Every night was a new different adventure and every night brought us closer as a group and lasted a little longer and brought a little more reluctance to get up from the table or out of the hot pot to say, "Goodnight..."

The food was good and plentiful, always with fresh fruit and fish and wonderful soups; did I mention the lobster soup?  It really was quite good.  I was surprised to find such a wonderful selection of wines from around the world at nearly every nights repast.  And the lunch atop the glacier.  The Brennivin was great and the shark is something everyone should taste once... perhaps only once, but at least once.

Finally, I was not particularly looking forward to the time spent in Reykavik.  I thought I might be bored.  I was wrong.  With you as a host I think that a week in Reykavik would barely be enough time to see everything and eat everywhere.  The two very long, very fun nights we spent, dining and exploring were wonderful.  Once again, your intimate knowledge of the surroundings allowed us to make the most of the limited time that we had. In closing I would like to say that having spent the week in Iceland with Overland Experts has left me, both, wanting to return to Iceland and wanting to take another trip with Overland Experts.  I am hungry to see more of the amazing land that is Iceland.  There are very few places on Earth that are evolving and growing and land building in such a present way.  Between the volcanoes and the glaciers and Geysers and Waterfalls, Earth changes take place on a daily even hourly timescale rather than in terms of eras or ages.  The system of roads and four wheel drive trails that interconnects the interior with the coast is wonderful and unknown in my part of the world.  I could easily spend a month in Iceland, driving and camping and sitting in hot pots.  And Overland Experts has certainly won a devoted client.  I will gladly take any trip, any time with Bruce Elfstrom and Overland Experts.

Thank You for the Memories,

Jason C Fitzgerald
